Thankful, indeed!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone who celebrates! :)

I've now received all my cosmetic creating ingredients in the mail! I am so excited to start trying recipes. Woot woot! First up will be a bright green eyeshadow/pigment, since I need one for a look I want to do for a contest. ;)

After that, I'll do the standard stuff like foundation and veils.

Yay!!

Model In A Bottle: review (1 of 2)

Well, an initial experiment/review, to be followed by a more involved one...

I put a swatch of Coastal Scents gel liner on the top of each hand at bedtime. I sprayed Model in a Bottle on the right, and left the left. ;-) When I woke up (after oversleeping like woah, by the way) the right hand looked like I'd just applied it (just a bit more matte than usual). The left was there too, but was quite faded/rubbed off.

So far, I am quite impressed! The mattefied effect is a good sign, too, actually; it indicates to me that the spray keeps oil at bay.

Another review will appear after I try it on a full-makeup, out and about sort of day.

Well, I suppose it was inevitable...

I've ordered supplies to create mineral makeup. My goal is to start making custom products for myself (don't we all want that perfect shade with ideal coverage for us?), and eventually branch out into a small business.

I have some plans to make my "line" unique, which will hopefully help me stand out a bit from the multitude of homemade mineral companies out here in cyberspace. ;-)

Any takers?

Okay, I wish to sell/swap out, etc. the following items...

* Too Faced Primed & Poreless (foundation primer): $15
Paid $30 at Ulta, and used it four times (so about 1/2 tsp or so is gone out of a 1 oz tube)

* MAC pigment sample, in "Violet" (approx 1 tsp) - $3
I adore this lovely purple shade, I just have more than I'd ever need.

* MAC pigment sample in "Naked" (approx 1 tsp) - $3
A nice base or highlight color - shimmery beige.

* MAC reflects sample, in "Copper" (approx 1 tsp) - $3
Gorgeous metalic glitter! Again, I just have too much. **I've heard people say this can't be used near the eyes, but the artist at MAC put some over my shadow, sooo... yeah. Confirmed safe for eye area.

* MAC Cream Colour Base in "Hush" (they call it "soft peach with icy shimmer") - $12
Paid $16.50 at MAC, and only used it like, once (this is basically a cream eye shadow, highlighter... multi-purpose thingy)

* Coastal Scents Camo Quad in "Light" - $4
I paid $7.95, and used this one day. Didn't work for me, but I've heard good things from others, so I guess it depends on skin type, etc. Coastal Scents products are fantastic, so I have faith that it'll work perfectly for someone out there. ;)

So, anyhoo, if anyone is interested in purchase or trade, please let me know. patricia@just-a-fan.com or peahen78@gmail.com

you know you're addicted when...

...you create a gift registry at Coastal Scents for your birthday. LOL!

I can't help it, though. This place is addictive. It's like getting MAC or BE quality at like, Wet n' Wild prices!

Review: Perfect Pigment (Christina Cosmetics)

Well, I think I cursed myself. I said I was loving it, but wanted to give it a fair trial before reviewing, "...in case I had a reaction or something."

Yeah. Had a reaction or something.

I am uber-impressed with the coverage and ease of use (and the brush!), but it seems to make my face itch. It could be worse -- there's no rash, hives, or anything like that -- but it's annoying to the point where I'm discontinuing use, until I make sure that's why I'm itching.

I'm thinking it's whatever they use to press the minerals into the compact.

So, yeah. I would recommend it, but with a word of caution to check the ingredient list before ordering, just in case you're sensitive to something. I'll take a look myself, and list the stuff here. I need to figure out what it is, to avoid the additive in the future.

SCORES:
Coverage: 4/5 (better than most mineral brands!)
Matching/blending: 4/5
Packaging: 5/5
Ease of use: 5/5

I adore the brush, concealer, and lipgloss that come with the kit. And the fact that the compact is foundation, blush, and bronzer/contour in one. Good times!

Perfect Pigment: day one

I know I said I would give it a week-long trial before reviewing; however, Perfect Pigment by Christina Cosmetics is pretty much awesome so far. I just wanted to say that. ;-) I'll still give it some time in case I have a reaction or something to note.

I also picked up some Too Faced Primed & Poreless at Ulta today, so I'll have comments on that soon, as well.

Thanks for reading. And hey, if you are here, leave a comment so I'll know someone actually reads this blog. Ha ha.

Take care all,
Patricia
